A weekly clusterf*ck of local bands, solo musicians, comedians, thespians, photographers, painters, monologists, linguists, performance artists, authors, DJs, jammers, scammers, filmmakers, and films experimenting in different-than-usual norms on an in-the-biz night with you as judge, jury, victim, viewer, but not executioner. Sorry, we reserve that right.

The Second Annual Historic Portico Row Spring Fair (10th Street between Locust and Spruce, Philadelphia). The Absinthe Drinkers shared the stage with a combination of local bands and dancers. Jammin!

A musical-burlesque celebration of gilded-age decadence. Advances techno-logical and philo-sophical explored through music, burlesque, lecture, and visuals for the edification and betterment of those attending.

The Drinkers quasi-montly oddity showcase has featured the music of The Blazing Cherries, Stephen Bluhm, Damon Hamilton, saucy burlesque from Annie A-Bomb, Heather Henderson, and Randi Warhol, eye-pokes from the always lovely VJ Gina Izzo, dance music from DJ Lexx and DJ Dave Ghoul.

Alien Thujone returned to his birthplace, at the opening of the Philly Open Studio Tours South Philly Group Show. Rockin' out with Miss Monika Turtle, oh yeah!

Ossuary 07The Ossuary (L'etage, 6th & Bainbridge Streets, Philadelphia)
Day of the Dead extravaganza costume party! Oubliette got all medieval! AnnAtomic shook those burlesque bones! DJ Dave Ghoul of Zombie Monkey Projects rocked out the rest of the night. All the mod-goddess VJ Gina Izzo stimulated everyone's occipital lobes!

With gorgeous saw-playing chanteuse Nicki Jaine, and the 18 piece rock symphony This Ambitious Orchestra. The lovely Philomena Bindlestiff of the Bindlestiff Circus walked on glass and cracked the whip. Heavenly....

The Absinthe Drinkers got artsy-smartsy at art opening featuring art, clothing, jewelry, etc.

It was Theater Geeks vs. the Book Nerds at the Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret. The Drinkers wowed them both!

Our hit 2006 Fringe Festival Symposium featuring noted humanologist Thujone and abductees The Absinthe Drinkers featuring love and sex poetry from Sappho, Baudelaire, Hank Williams (yes that Hank Williams) and others.

Two fun shows to kick off the 215Fest, Philly's homegrown "literature as performance" festival featuring local and national writers performing their works. Show broadcast on WXPN 98.5 FM Phila.

OmphalosOmphalos: A Sonic and Visual Landscape of Madness, Murder, Myth. (The Book Trader, 2nd & Market, Philadelphia)
Six Philly Fringe Festival shows. The Philly Inquirer called it "A quirky, nicely performed little show..."

The Hunter S. Thompson Gonzo Wake (Tritone 15th & South Streets, Philadelphia)
This was a FUN night. We organized a night honoring the great man, HST, and did a complete set based on his ESPN columns. Fun stuff, we'll definitely do this again, if only for the shots of Wild Turkey...

The Sideshow Cabaret (The Khyber 2nd & Chestnut St., Philadelphia)
Awesome cabaret fun featuring music, comedy, and (sometimes) fire-eaters hosted by Julian O'Reilly and Kendall Roark. Last Mondays of every month. You should GO!

The Man In Black Show (Fergies Pub 1214 Sansom St., Philadelphia)
Monthly show hosted by David Stone, Johnny Cash doppleganger. This is another monthly show you should check out-- in addition to David Stone's AWESOME Johnny Cash set, there's always other entertaining musical/comedy/spoken word acts that perform. Plus the best Guiness pour in the city!

Rev. T-Bag's Pup Tent Revivals (Tritone, 15th & South Streets, Philadelphia)
Crazy variety show w/ comedy music etc. etc. etc. I can't remember the date because the Pup Tent Revival always ends in a drunken debauch.


In 2004 and prior...

October Phillysmooth Arts Party (Lucy's Hat Shop, 247 Market Street, Philadelphia)
The Drinkers rocked the intermission. Max even let me do a Devo cover to go with my Booji Boy costume! Cool!

Red Handed MuseThe Red Handed Muse at the Philly Fringe Festival. Six shows based on war poetry throughout the ages. Pretty elaborate show with movement and visuals and a full stage set. We had a cast of thousands for this. (Well, ok, it was really a cast of 7, but it felt like 7000 sometimes...)

Hard Liquor Theater at Tritone. Now defunct, but those were the days! We played several of this strange cabaret variety show hosted by Philly's infamous Needles Jones. The Seven Deadly Sins show was AWESOME: we got to do lust!

The Sonic Salon at Fergies Pub, 12th and Sansom St., Philadelphia.
The Absinthe Drinkers hosted these nights, performing two sets and providing backing music for readings by local poets. We may start doing these again one of these days, if we get the energy to do poet-wranglin!

The Poettes Farewell Tour at the 2003 Philly Fringe Festival. Our first live show, we got to open for one of our favorite bands. Sad that it was the farewell show though...
